Grégoire le Grand et la violence religieuse

Abstract : Gregory the Great's letters present several cases of violence used by priests or Roman Church agents or suffered by innocent people. In his exegetical works we can find moral display about the flagella Dei, a kind of unavoidable violence. Luke's compelle intrare is understood in that way. Gregory's doctrine can be followed in Bede and in Alcuin at the carolingian time.
