Les origines du culte de saint Martin de Tours aux Vè et VIè siècles

Abstract : The cult of saint Martin is associated with the saint's grave at Tours, and this is the logical frame of the rise of a saint's cult. However in the case of Martin, first saint who was not a martyr, we can observe a very large range of early witnesses specially in Italy. The role of Sulpicius Severus works must be asked as an incentive of a new devotion in a context of fight against arianism and of rise of asceticism.
