Le monde du livre et l’Université de Paris (16e-17e siècles) : l’apport des Acta rectoria

The Acta rectoria record the name and origin of every student in the University of Paris from the 1520s to the 1630s. This series of manuscript leaflets also mentions the sworn officers who worked for the University as messengers, craftsmen or merchants. It is an interesting source to study the relations between the University, representing the moral authority in the XVIth century, and the book trades. But it is also a source of major interest for the prosopography, as it gives a lot of information about parisian booksellers. This paper provides the full transcription of 165 records related to the book trades. It deals with almost 200 printers, booksellers, bookbinders, paper et parchment makers.
